Job Description:

CLASSIFICATION: One Full-Time Registered Chiropodist

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs assessment, diagnosis, treatment, health education/counselling for diseases, disorders and dysfunctions of the foot and other clinical foot care activities according to the College of Chiropodits of Ontario
  • Provides patient care including treating acute/chronic infections and ulcers, taking culture samples, performing soft tissue surgery, and administration of a local anesthetic.
  • Ensures chiropody areas, resources, materials, and equipment are maintained.
  • Provides foot health education to both patients and allied health professionals and interested community.
  • Arranges, wherever practically possible, home foot care for patients unable to attend for chiropody treatment.
  • Where appropriate, develops partnerships and alliances to optimize health care service provision and address needs of the community.
  • Maintains complete and accurate client records, assessment notes and required correspondence.
  • Diagnose, prescribe, fit, and manufacture orthotics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree/diploma in chiropody from a COCOO-approved post-secondary program is required. Must hold a general certificate of registration with the College of Chiropodists of Ontario (COCOO).
  • Must have the ability to work to the full scope of practice for a Chiropodist in Ontario
  • Certification in Local Anesthesia, Soft Tissue Surgery, Injections, Pharmacology is preferred.
  • Candidates with previous experience in primary care of community health settling are preferred.
  • Additional training and/ or experience in an area relevant to the services provided by the organization for example, experience providing care to seniors, individuals with diabetes individuals with complex health and/or mental health issues. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community health care.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an inter-professional team environment.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers, Microsoft Office applications and electronic health records
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, conflict management and time management skills.
  • Wound care experience preferred. 
  • Ability to speak French is an asset.

RATE OF PAY: To be negotiated at time of hire.
START DATE: To be determined.
