Background
East Wellington FHT offers an interdisciplinary team-based care environment. Our clinical team
consists of nurses, dietitians, and mental health therapists. We have integrated services with an
occupational therapist, addictions counsellor and home care resources. All of our services are
provided by dedicated admin and billing staff.


East Wellington Family Health Team (FHT) is a blended salary model. As a salaried,
non-fee-for-service physician, you are not responsible for clinic overhead or administrative
operations. We offer a competitive compensation package for the physician who wants to focus only
on providing the best quality of care. This position comes with extended health care benefits, four
(4) weeks paid vacation and five (5) paid CME days, in addition to an RRSP employer contribution
program. This package is prorated to your FTE status.

Summary

The Physician will be responsible for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients, as well
as the effective management and coordination of care. They will provide medical care by assessing,
examining and treating patients as necessary. This individual is responsible for gathering and
organizing patient data and case history from various sources including the patient, family,
nurses, specialists and other care practitioners. The Physician orders and evaluates diagnostic and
laboratory testing as required.
Other duties will be assigned as necessary.

Job Responsibilities
The following elements related to comprehensive care must be incorporated:

  • Health assessments
  • Diagnosis and treatment
  • Primary reproductive care

  • Support for hospital, home and rehabilitation facilities
  • Service coordination and referral
  • Patient education and preventative care
  • Pre-natal, obstetrical, post-natal, and in-hospital newborn care Additional responsibilities
    include:
  • Participate in staff development and in-service education programs
  • Participate in quality improvement work
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to applicable regulations
  • Maintain the highest standard of professional ethics
  • Perform other assignments as requested

Requirements

  • Maintain a license, in good standing with CPSO
  • Computer literacy, including effective working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and e-mail
    required
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

Working Conditions

  • May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc
  • Interacts with patients, family members, and staff
  • Travel may be required
