Position: CBT Therapist – Ontario Structured Psychotherapy
1.0 FTE (with benefits)
Reports To: Interim Manager of Mental Health Services
Position Summary:
The Couchiching Family Health Team (CFHT), in partnership with Waypoint’s Outpatient Services, is currently seeking a CBT Therapist. The therapist will deliver a program of individual Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for adults with depressive and anxiety disorders, as well as offering Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for trauma-related mental health issues. Training for all modalities of therapy is provided. The therapist will also participate in program evaluation and supervision with the Waypoint CBT Consultant. These positions will be non-union and will be commensurate with experience. The CBT Therapist will apply an anti-oppressive lens in supporting diverse clients, including those facing systemic barriers.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments (PHQ-9, GAD-7) to inform individualized treatment plans
Facilitate group therapy utilizing evidence-based approaches
Provide individual evidence-based CBT and CPT treatment
Participate in clinical supervision meetings with a Waypoint Consultant
Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reports
Collaborate with team members in provision of care
Contribute to program development and program evaluation
Maintain and upgrade knowledge and skills
Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and
Protection of Privacy Act
Provide services to a minimum of 4 clients per day, or 16-18 clients per week
Keep monthly statistics for Waypoint and the CFHT
Maintain an organized appointment schedule
Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to adjust language and terminology to suit the individual patient or patient group (including cultural sensitivity)
Demonstrated knowledge of culturally responsive care, ability to work across difference and experience,
Supporting equity-deserving clients
Strong clinical skills; demonstrated ability to utilize best practices for mental health treatment
Autonomous and able to function with minimal supervision
Ability to work effectively with all members of the health care team
Ability to work in an inter-professional team environment
Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible in a very active work environment
Work in compliance with Health and Safety laws adhering to safe work practices and procedures established by the CFHT
Other duties as required
Computer Skills
Familiarity with a PC OS environment
Experience with scheduling and electronic medical record keeping using a clinical management system (Practice Solutions) is an asset
Language Skills
English required; Second language not required but would be an asset
Education/Specific Job Requirements:
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (Master’s preferred) or counselling
psychology (Master’s degree)
Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or College of
Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act
Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results
Strong assessment skills to deliver and interpret symptom and outcome measures
Models and promotes core ethical practice, organization’s values, and reflects an optimistic and
positive attitude
Current Ontario Driver’s License and access to reliable vehicle for travel
Evidence of a clean driver abstract and proof of insurance
Flexibility to work 1 evening per week (11am to 7pm)
Police Record/Vulnerable Sector Check
It is a condition of employment that you receive the necessary vaccinations to protect against
infection of COVID-19, or any similar infectious diseases, which may be recommended by governmental and public health authorities from time to time
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience in the delivery of evidence-based CBT is preferred; Documented evidence of CBT training with adequate supervision is preferred
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of etiology and treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders as well as CBT and its application in mood and anxiety disorders
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of diagnostic categories and criteria as listed in the
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V)
Clinical experience working collaboratively with a community-based agency preferable
