New, Free Online Training Available to Ontario Workers to Recognize and Prevent Infection Hazards in the Workplace
Though often invisible to the naked eye, infectious hazards can have a devastating impact on our health. Infectious hazards may exist in any type of workplace. It is everyone’s responsibility (e.g. employer, supervisor and worker) to recognize and control these hazards with the same diligence as other workplace health and safety hazards. A new online training program is now available to help Ontario workers recognize infection hazards in the workplace and what can be done to prevent them. Developed in consultation with infection control consultants and epidemiologists, Public Services Health & Safety Association has recently released Infection Prevention and Control at Work: Basic Awareness Training. This free, 30-minute eLearning program will equip workers with knowledge in how infections spread and what action can be taken to protect themselves and others from infectious hazards in the workplace. Relevant for all workers across all sectors in Ontario, this course will teach you what Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) is and why it’s important, how infections are spread and the steps you and others can take to prevent and control infections in the workplace.
