Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) – Central Brampton FHT

Registered Practical Nurse ( RPN ) The Central Brampton FHT is physician-led and uses an interdisciplinary, collaborative model of practice to provide comprehensive primary care. This 0.5 FTE, permanent Registered Practical Nurse role will see you performing laboratory processing and handling of specimens for delivery to the laboratory and other relevant duties. As a Registered Practical Nurse, you will:
  • Provide venipunctures to take blood for lab tests
  • Process specimens and send them to the laboratory
  • Take vital signs
  • Perform Electrocardiograms
  • Act as the first contact to the Doctor once in the exam room
  • Meet with physicians to discuss patients' needs, when necessary
  • Participate in program planning activities
  • Participate in monthly clinical meetings
Your profile will include:
  • Current Certificate of Competence as a Registered Practical Nurse from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • College diploma from a Registered Practical Nursing Program
  • At least 2 years of related patient care experience in a clinic or hospital setting
  • Ability and skills to perform venipuncture procedures
  • Ability to take vital signs
  • Knowledge of laboratory specimens processing
  • Knowledge of primary care delivery, with an emphasis on health promotion
  • Knowledge of computer programs such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records ( EMR ) and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Excellent multi-tasking and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
