The Hamilton Family Health Team Mental Health Program invites applications for

Mental Health Counsellor

Full and part time positions

Working in the fast paced offices of family physicians, collaboratively with other health professionals, to provide comprehensive primary health care, the counsellor delivers a wide range of mental health services to patients and their families. Preferred candidates will possess:
  • Extensive mental health clinical training, generally acquired through the completion of post graduate studies (MSW, RN, BScN, CPMHN(C) or equivalent) and membership in a professional college
  • a minimum of 5 years clinical work experience, some of which will be with children, youth and families
  • knowledge and experience in the area of mental illness detection, treatment and management (psychotropic medication and evidence based treatments such as CBT and IPT)
  • knowledge and experience working with a broad range of psycho-social issues, experienced by individuals of all ages, couples, children, youth and families
  • flexibility, strong commitment to “collaborative care model” and interest in helping build this evolving area of mental health service
