Medical Receptionist - North York FHT (North York)

Position: Medical Receptionist POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Medical Receptionist is responsible for providing reception, clerical and administrative support to the North York Family Health Team. The Medical Receptionist ensures that all patients, visitors and callers receive appropriate service and assistance. They ensure that allied health providers and consulting physicians are appropriately supported. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greet and direct patients to appropriate medical resources and/or services.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments/tests/follow-ups and manage schedules
  • Manage referrals
  • Assist with the coordination and support of NYFHT groups and programs
  • Assist with OHIP billing, and other administrative duties as required
  • Preparing letters and provide other word processing/spreadsheet documentation
  • Maintain and modify electronic medical records
  • Ensure the efficient operation of the office
  • Handle all correspondence, including: telephone, email, fax and mail.
  • Provide administrative support and perform clerical duties.
  • Monitor inventory of medical/office supplies and order as required
  • Participate in meetings as requested.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma
  • Medical Office Assistant/Administrator Diploma
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Reception experience in a medical office environment, preferably supporting a consulting physician
  • Experience with OHIP billing submissions
  • Experience with Nightingale and/or Practice Solutions EMR an asset
SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Patient focused
  • Ability to deal with multiple pressures and conflicting priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
