IM/IT Project Manager - Barrie & Community FHT

1 year contract (with possibility of extension) 

Organization Description The Barrie & Community Family Health Team (BCFHT) is one of the largest family health teams in Ontario. We are comprised of Physicians, Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Dietitians, Pharmacists, Diabetes and Respiratory Educators, Mental Health Counsellors and an Administrative team. Our team is focused on improving access to comprehensive, patient-centred, team-based primary health care, which supports self management, emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention, and enhances the management of individuals with chronic diseases through programs that are well linked with other local and community services. Position Description Reporting to the Board of Directors, the IM/IT Project Manager will be responsible for IM/IT project planning based on the IT Transformation Strategy. This will include implementing, managing, and communicating information strategies that will improve the efficiency of the Electronic Medical Records (Accuro) system which is shared by the Barrie & Community Family Health Team and the Barrie Family Health Organization. Critical projects included in the transformation strategy include supporting quality improvement plans, strengthening funding and business operations, and improving performance management activities. Primary Responsibilities
  • providing project management leadership and expertise on complex, cross-functional, multi-stakeholder projects
  • building strong partnerships with the physician community to ensure successful collaboration on the development and performance of the EMR
  • advising senior management and project teams on project management tools, methodologies and best practices
  • leading the planning and executing of the IM/IT Transformation Strategy projects and activities
  • supporting quality improvement and clinical transformation efforts
  • communicating with staff and project teams to obtain project status updates and interacting with a wide variety of people to ensure progress is being achieved
  • briefing senior leaders, boards of directors, on the progress of the projects and initiatives

  • facilitation and negotiation skills to broker between divisions in identifying issues, root cause analysis and impacts to further project success
  • risk management and research skills to anticipate needs, evaluate quality controls and best practices and develop well-reasoned plans
  • advisory and people skills to develop and maintain working relationships, promote effective use of project management tools and build confidence in the provision of project expertise
  • knowledge of/expertise in project management principles, theories, trends, best practices standards, techniques and tools
  • broad-based knowledge of the health care sector specifically relating to IM/IT delivery systems and administration, experience with Accuro is an asset
  • the demonstrated ability to lead large, complex and multi-stakeholder or cross-divisional projects
  • the ability to gain, understand, interpret and apply knowledge of legislation, policies, public administration principles and practices
  • proficiency with common software applications (e.g. MS Office, Internet, Intranet) and project management software
