Northumberland Family Health Team EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FULL-TIME POSTION

The Northumberland Family Health Team (NFHT) is seeking an innovative and energetic Executive Director with demonstrated management skills to administer the operations of the organization.  This is an exciting opportunity to lead a collaborative, interdisciplinary team of health care professionals and administrative staff in providing outstanding primary health care services to our community.  This is a full-time leadership position, requiring excellent interpersonal and team-building skills, and expertise in financial management, strategic and program planning and program delivery. The Executive Director reports to the physician-led Board of Directors. 

This important role requires an individual with a motivational leadership style who is well organized,  goal oriented and thrives in a challenging environment. Ideally you will have a university degree and a minimum 3-5 years experience providing leadership in a business, community and/or health care environment.  This position requires excellent communication skills and experience working with a Board of Directors. The Executive Director is responsible to the Board of Directors of the FHT to advise on matters of policy and risk, quality monitoring, evaluation and health human resources. He/she develops, manages and maintains the budget. The Executive Director is responsible to manage human resources issues and develop plans around recruitment and retention. Working with the Board he/she develops strategic plans and acts as a liaison with the community and the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. The Executive Director supports clinical programs through actively developing team based, patient-centered practices that meet professional and best-practice standards of care.The Executive Director is responsible to the Board of Directors of the FHT to advise on matters of policy and risk, quality monitoring, evaluation and health human resources. Duties will include:

  • Responsible to the Board for the organization and management of the NFHT in accordance with policies established by the Board of Directors
  • Ensures appropriate systems and structures are in place for the effective management and control of the NFHT and its resources including; risk management, financial resources management, program development and evaluation and human resources management
  • Supports clinical programs through actively developing team based, patient-centered practices that meet professional and best-practice standards of care
  • Works with the Board to develop strategic plans and acts as a liaison with the community and the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care
  • Represents the NFHT externally and maintains confidence in the character and integrity of the NFHT, with its clients, staff members, health care partners, the public and respective levels of government
  • Fulfills the mission, vision, objectives and strategic plan of the Family Health Team
  • Plans, supports and monitors the implementation of computer systems and information technology
