St. Michael’s Hospital provides Women’s and Children’s health services for southeast Toronto’s richly diverse Inner City population. Outpatient services include a Pediatric Ambulatory Clinic and a Women’s Health Care Centre. The Pediatric Clinic provides general pediatric consultative services, antenatal consultations for high risk pregnancies due to either maternal or fetal issues, development and school problem assessments, neonatal follow-up and specialty support in the areas of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and inner city youth (teens). The Women’s Health Clinics include low and high risk obstetrics, general gynecology, and specialized pelvic health services including urogynecology in state of the art facilities.
In this pivotal role, the Clinical Leader/Manager will draw upon team building and change management skills to provide contemporary leadership and direction for a multi-disciplinary team in advancing evidence based practices in Pediatric and Women’s Health care. The Clinical Leader/Manager will be ultimately responsible for the seamless integration of patient care delivery across the continuum of ambulatory care and follow up while ensuring that roles, responsibilities and functions continue to evolve to meet changing corporate needs. The Clinical Leader/Manager will be responsible and accountable for the effective and efficient delivery of high quality patient care, utilization of resources, professional practice and staff development and for developing innovative, team-based approaches to the day-to-day management of the Clinics in the delivery of services.
While the main focus of this position is at the operational management level, the Clinical Leader/Manager will also participate actively in Program specific and Hospital-wide initiatives through Committee and Task Force membership, Hospital planning and management forums.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification with the Ontario College of Nurses
- Undergraduate degree in Nursing required
- Masters degree in Nursing, Health Administration or MBA preferred, or a commitment to achieving such within a designated period of time.
- Must have current CPR or BCLS certification.
- A minimum of 5 years clinical experience working with patients and families within ambulatory Pediatric and Women’s Health care.
- A minimum of 3 years recent and direct management experience.
- Strong knowledge base of clinical practices and procedures in the ambulatory Pediatric and Women’s Health care.
- Proven experience as a clinical resource/expert for Nursing and Allied Health staff.
- Excellent team building and mentorship skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality.
