In the complex environment around health information privacy, evolving requirements under the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA) are presenting additional compliance obligations for health information custodians (HICs), including hospitals. These requirements include a new legal obligation for HICs to report all privacy breaches annually to the Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC).
With this requirement coming into effect on January 1, 2018, the IPC and the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) have come together to provide a practical perspective on annual breach reporting. This webcast will feature a fireside chat with the IPC Commissioner, Brian Beamish.
