Position Overview:                                                                                                                                                                                         

Summerville Family Health Team is seeking a part-time Psychological Associate or Psychologist to join our mental health team.  This position will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide assessment, diagnosis, education and counselling to address the mental health needs of Summerville patients.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide diagnostic assessment as well as evidence-based interventions to individual children/adolescents and/or adults presenting with various mental health concerns including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, anger, developmental conditions, eating disorders, social/relationship difficulties
  • Participate in consultation, team meetings and treatment planning with other team members including 5 social workers who are part of the mental health team
  • Formulate & communicate recommendations for clinical management and/or psychotherapeutic treatment
  • Provide consultation, support and mentorship to colleagues with respect to delivery of evidence-based psychotherapies including individual and group Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, mindfulness, etc.
  • Communicate diagnoses and treatment / management plans & progress as required
  • Maintain accurate, concise and confidential documentation in the patient’s EMR
  • Contribute to development, implementation and evaluation of psycho-educational programs/groups in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members
  • Collect data as required for statistical reporting purposes
  • Participate in team building, program development and quality improvement activities
  • Participate in team, program and FHT wide meetings
  • Adhere to organizational policies and professional standards of practice

Qualifications:

  • Masters or Doctorate in psychology from an APA/CPA accredited clinical psychology program with a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an interdisciplinary clinical hospital-based or primary care setting with adults with anxiety, mood, concurrent and/or personality disorders
  • Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario in good standing
  • Proof of required professional liability insurance
  • Experience in providing effective individual, family and group modes of psychotherapy
  • Content expertise in psychiatric disorders including chronic depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia and personality disorders is required
  • Skills in DSM V diagnosis of psychiatric disorders including chronic depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia and personality disorders is required
  • Experience in semi-structured clinical interviewing methodologies including SCID DSM V
  • Experience in crisis management
  • Demonstrated experience in a variety of evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy / Cognitive Behavioral Social Skills, Illness Management & Recovery, Motivational Therapies and problem focused and/or mindfulness is required
  • Demonstrated skills and interest in providing care within an interdisciplinary shared care / collaborative care environment required
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, the Health Care Consent Act, the Substitute Decisions Act and Community Treatment Orders
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, organization and time management skills
  • Strong oral, written communications skills and group facilitation skills required
  • Advanced critical thinking skills and clinical decision making
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in use of computer technology for clinical care
  • Planning and organization skills
  • Experience in program development, implementation and evaluation
